Just throwing the board open to the interview with AfterEllen today with Lana, JMo and Meghan. For those who missed it, here's the link: www.afterellen.com/content/2012/11/women-once-upon-time-love-their-lesbians?xrs=synd_facebook_AfterEllenPersonally I so like to buy the popular theory lana raced off to watch the mine scene again after we stumped her with it in my interview. And she'd have that in her mind when asked about it by the man at AfterEllen. Which brings me to what I like to call: OH MY GAWD PROOF! that once subtext is seen it cannot be unseen. Her answer has shifted from "I don't see it" and "It wasn't sexual" in the mine scene for my i/v to "It wasn't sexual" but I see the "genuine moment of closeness". That's the cool thing about subtext - it's just hard to unsee once you know it's there. We are shifting Lana one interview at a time. Next stop - we shall shift her with the power of our intellectual thought provoking tweets about SQ. We will ask interesting questions and make her grey matter light up like seeing a sheriff in tight jeans.

I'm down with that. I don't have twitter, but I'd twit as you say. This is a campaign, an activist movement. We need to share good advice and form some kind of collective voice. If Lana is willing to really think her character over (as seems obvious even just in her fangrrling moments over the show itself) then these are great seeds to plant. I'd be willing to gather up some of the really great pro-SQ arguments and try to translate them into tweet-speak. I'll try to avoid my usual existential blathering:)

sorry and by collective voice, I mean collective and democratic. I like what you're saying because I like the idea of sharing advice rather than attacking one another with 'you're making me feel like a freeeeeaaaaaack' attacks (as has been the norm over on the tumblrweed)...

And I'd bet she'd prefer existential blathering over some of those awful blackmail tweets. Or most tweets come to think of it. LOL

What about JMo? JaneE? Adam and Eddie?

Agraomntes - What about JMo? JaneE? Adam and Eddie? Well this is just my view, and everyone can feel free to disagree: We only need one captain to steer a ship. The boys are focused on their new toys right now. JMo seems much further back down the subtext road than Lana. So Lana is the one most likely to be captain. And captains can sway others. If you did think we could approach all at once, it'd have to be done as a tailored message. Do not, for instance, send a lana message and then include every other cast member's name. If it's personalised, it is more likely to be read. So one could definitely personalise for JMO or Jane Espenson or the boys. Just don't treat any of them like one size (message) fits all. It's kinda insulting, like getting a form letter from a friend at Christmas time.

I don't think you can stop people begging for shout outs - the cult of celebrity and all. That's up to LP to train her puppies.
I agree that intelligent questioning is always a better thing.
It never ceases to amaze me how people who work in showbiz, the gayest biz of all, still talk about The Gays like they've just landed on the planet Gay.
Curious...

Can't stop the shout outs - but we can try and make the SQ tweets ones that are worthy of a reply.
Know what's really funny? For the same number of characters, anyone on the planet can ask her a really inane, dumbass question or a moving, thought-provoking one. Is it laziness?

I do love that she's now said "lesbian" twice now in interviews. I also appreciate this approach, especially because I often find myself intruiged by the character, her motivations, and what the hell is going through her (the character's) mind when she looks at Emma like that.

People will still ask questions that make you wince - that's free speech at work. There are people who thought you were too direct about SQ in your interview. I'm glad you asked - because once you get it on record, then more reporters might have the stones to ask and eventually the level of discourse rises - hopefully beyond the level of 'lobbing a hand grenade'.

For the same number of characters, anyone on the planet can ask her a really inane, dumbass question or a moving, thought-provoking one. Is it laziness? This is probably my favourite comment of all time on any topic. Yes: Improving the world is in everyone's grasp, right now, just by changing what we tweet to people. But we never bother. Why not? It IS laziness. We can do better. We should do better. And why not start with Lana - improving her twitter feed from the perplexing morass it is now. I think she might die of shock getting intellectual questions suddenly coming at her. Maybe we should pick one day and all Smart Tweet her with cool swan queen questions.

A smart tweet flash mob. I'll need a bit of time to come up with some. My brain is currently stuck in global climate change and some other downer stuff.
