Hello everyone,
We have been informed that some members are having difficulty reading the board visually and would like your assistance in determining the most widely preferred background for visitors to see when they first browse the forums.
None of the above is also an option, but we do ask that you tell us why and what would make a skin/color scheme more appealing to you.

"Default" is by far the easiest one, I mean, it's just blank, so everything is readily visible and it's easy to see the different titles and stuff, and you're not distracted by colors and photos.
I like the other ones, but having a very large gif on top (I only get a broken image place-holder for Skin 1, but for the other custom skins I see the cool gifs) is perhaps not necessary for the visitor view - it might be good to be able to see the titles of the sub-forums without having to scroll too far down. Maybe there could be a smaller banner, something that just says 'Swan Queen forum' or somesuch (maybe people could submit them if they wanted, I wouldn't mind making one either, to a pre-decided pixel-aspect, and we could vote on them - if we wanted) so they'll see a pic and know they're in the right place and leave the rest of the layout blank. And then you can opt-in to have cooler more visually heavy skins once you register and by then you would be more familiar with the layout and stuff so you know where to go and how to find stuff.
I just wanna say, I really like the skins we have! I'm not criticizing, but now that I sat down and thought about it for a while, that's what I came up with.

We're asking because we want as many opinions as possible. We want this to be a fun place to visit, and I know that sometimes visuals make a huge difference.  Thank you fallonash for your input. I hope more people feel safe enough to give their honest opinions. |

I've gotta say I was pleasantly surprised to find this topic! I've been here for about a week and I love it already, but sometimes it's SO frustrating to navigate this board! I never said anything because I thought it was just me  First of all, I had NO idea you could change the skins, so thanks! However, I had to really apply myself here to actually find the option to change the theme. I even considered a Google search, but thankfully found it before it had to come to that ;D It's buried deep in those profile options there! Don't they want us to find it? Secondly, I voted for the blue background, but that's only because the white one is so white that it makes my eyes water. This blue one is a little better, but still doesn't make the navigation any easier. The purple is great, but there's not enough contrast between the text and the background. And I LOVE the background images and banners just as much as the next SwanQueener, but they kind of make it hard to see the "next" button and the thread path against so many colors, which makes it kind of uncomfortable if you read in here for a long time or browse a lot. I'd love to see a "clean" theme, with no background images, and maybe a darker color there. But most of all, I think it'd be nice to have more contrast between the text and the background. I don't know if it's possible, but maybe making the "next", "pages" and threads links in bigger, bold fonts, in a contrasting color, to make them easier to locate. In short, the default white without making it so WHITE. Maybe a nice pastel color?  Edit to add that I went back to default and it's still too white, but I concluded that it's actually the best one for me because it makes everything cleaner and easier to find |

J: I made a skin called "Plain2" that's a pastel blue and when you mouseover certain sections, they turn white. Let me know if that works better for you. As for font size, sadly, I can't change that via skin; just font type.

I personally prefer the Evil Queen one and it`s the one that I use. But for guests I think there should be a more clear skin (and someone complained about the font, comic sans, to me). I suggest using the default as template but instead of blue I would use shades of red, and grey for the background in the posts, so is not too bright to read. Thanks, giftofamber, this skin definitely helps while we figure this out since it's not as uncomfortably bright as the Default one I really like Gi's suggestion!! I like that it's simple but still has some color in it, and the grey background makes it more comfortable, while still getting a lot of contrast for the links, texts and threads. Is there any way to help other than by giving suggestions? I don't know how this works, but I've messed around with HTML a while back so I have a basic understanding of it and would be willing to help out Let me know if there's anything I can do! |

Thanks, I will make a few new skins tonight so you can give feedback. I'm thinking if we have around 6 choices everyone should be able to find one that fits their preference.
