I see we have a lot of really great writers on here, and I'm always curious to know what other people have to say about their own work. Of all of the stories you've written, what are some of your favorites and why? Of all of the stories you've written, what are some of your favorites and why? What an interesting question. Can't wait to hear what others say. Personally I favour The Debt - and primarily the chapters when Emma and Regina are in FTL, bickering, and reaching an understanding. I like them being raw and alone with only each other to rely on. I loved sword training. And I thought it fun Regina thinks she should be in charge because she's been there before; but as Emma proves with fishing, sometimes a former Evil Queen can be full of crap. Oh and also healing spas. For reasons.

All the healing spas! Oh yes!
I think I have the most fun writing "These Aren't the Happy Endings You're Looking For" - it's challenging for me to write something long, and I love making up fun parallels between fairytale land and modern real world.
And 'Covalent Bonds' cause I love helebette and I like playing back and forth with her.
Why haven't you updated, exquisit?
oh, what a good question! So glad you asked! No reason whatsoever, I have a ton of both stories written out and the rest is all strung together in my head. Just need to get back to it.

For me it's FEEL:
I'm typically a hard core drama writer, blood and pain. This one is much more romance and it'll be the first time I try to even moderately write smut (I think my first time will be extremely tame and I'm sorry for that). I like it, though, because it feels like a challenge and I feel better for having undertaken it.
My other two are BROKEN and MARKED. Neither one of them is romantic SQ, but both show a strong connection between our ladies. MARKED feels like an accomplishment because of longer plotting. Gets me ready for my next big piece that will come after I wrap the story.

Personally, looking through what I've written thus far, when it comes to Swan Queen, I would have to say my favorite is " Laid". Not only is it the first multi-chapter fic that I've completed but I also loved how it slowly turned into it's own being with a life of it's own. I may have written it but it certainly pulled me along. It started as an angsty piece of smut and completely shifted into a rather dark love story. Initially it was simply going to be a couple chapter piece about what would happen between Emma and Regina (how their relationship's dynamic would shift) if they began an affair. The idea has been done numerous times, but I wanted to delve into the emotional instead of the physical; essentially I wanted to drive the characters to their mental limits and completely drive them insane as they tried to comprehend their feelings for one another. I didn't want it to be cute, or sweet, I wanted it raw and real. But, eventually, it ended up turning into far more than I ever anticipated and I'm very proud of how it evolved and what it became. P.S. I go by BLACKxDOVE on FF.net

An idea really has to seize me and send up a "I haven't read that before" twist flare before I'll generally write it in the first place. So, each is special in its own way, what it made me discover, or what it revealed I thought I didn't know, or how a particular moment or arc developed.
All that being said, I haven't written as many fics as others. If I have to select an overall favorite, one that even I go back to just to enjoy the story, it would be "A Touch of Magic." So much got said without words in that one, which is how I enjoy Regina and Emma onscreen to begin with. And I managed to get the magic-paint scene to match my mental image as close as I could have ever possibly hoped.
Of my strictly sex fics, I love the shifting control in "Come On, Be Nice." But I adored the overall development and climaxes of each installment of "A Ride on Horseback."
I love both my ongoing fics "Your Move" and "I just Need a Moment"
"Your Move" started as a one-shot smexy connection of two soulmates only to turn into this fascinating exploration of the barrier, the nature of Storybrooke and the curse, and its casting/breaking connection to Regina's psyche, and Emma and Regina's investigative moments even as they negotiate their complex emotional and magical connection.
"I Just Need A Moment" started as an interpretation of a scene that didn't even air: Emma falling to the ground and Charming and Snow coming to her aid and her apparent push off of their parental concern. Then I started getting links to behind-the-scenes shooting from season 2 and it has become a challenge to add these moments into my own arc, offering my own vision and creating another context for scenes we've now seen played out very differently.

I've only posted the one Swan Queen fic, and it's pure fluff. It was written in direct response to a 3-day angst fest where I'd marathoned all the classic wonderful epic angsty works in fandom, and I just needed to write something that was very domestic and very sweet. Still, for a fluff piece, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out: A Wedding Night.
Can we talk about other fandoms, though? You did say of "all" the stories we've written. One of my favourite things I've ever written might be Not a Client, a crossover between Firefly and The Chronicles of Riddick, Inara/Eve Logan. It was so interesting to go into their backgrounds, and try to figure out who they could be in the context of each other.
I'm also really pleased with my little Warehouse13 crack piece, The Day Everyone Woke Up Gay. I used to write a loooot of angst, and that was one of my first longer forays into humor exclusively and I'm quite happy with how the characters turned out.

I have only written one fic that matters. The Staircase. I had this idea, and I could not get it out of my head. I tried to forget it but it plagued me. What would happen if, due to a horrible misunderstanding, Emma assaulted Regina? I wanted to know if they could ever get back from that place. Trustwise I mean, Truthfully I still don't know. It's the human psychology of it that intrigues me. Humans are adaptable, but how adaptable? How forgiving? I am waiting for my characters to tell me the answers. Then I write. Writing helps me understand the world. And so that is why I like my fic.

Oh, why thaaaank you for asking! I'm not a frequent fic writer, I haven't taken up the pen - keyboard - seriously since my days as an X-Files fangirl. But SQ has me trying my hand at it. I think the story I like the most is Imperfect Hearts -- it's more of a Regina/Henry story, but one night I was just lying awake thinking about how sad it would be for both Regina and Henry if she died before they ever made their peace, so I had to write a little story where they clear the air between them. www.fanfiction.net/s/8649014/1/Imperfect-HeartsFight Another Day is sort of a loose sequel to Imperfect Hearts, because people were like "NOOOOO TO BE LETTING REGINA DIE!", so it's a multi-chapter fic where Emma springs her and they go on the lam, on a horse. It's given me some laughs trying to write Emma/Regina banter. It's ongoing. My muse was recently murdered by a couple of foster puppies I had in the house, who tormented her with their nonstop trouble making and then ate her innards, which has left me here staring morosely at my keyboard. But I'm hoping to resurrect the poor muse soon, and get back to it. www.fanfiction.net/s/8660075/1/Fight-Another-DayA Burden Halved is a one shot, a moment between Emma and Regina when Emma gets back from FTL, where she acknowledges the loss of Daniel. Cause I felt like I NEEDED it! I was so crushed for Regina after The Doctor! www.fanfiction.net/s/8654736/1/A-Burden-HalvedAnd there you have it, the entirety of my contribution to the world of fanfic in the last 10 years!

I think that writing Tell-Tale Hearts made me sane. The story is my favourite place to escape and as it continues in the form of a sequel, I'm able to unravel all of the complicated thoughts I have. It was fun writing 'between the lines' of the actual show (SQ angry!sex) but even more fun to go back over each time period and write it all a little differently. I also like writing Emma with 'male' parts which she refuses to identify as 'male' because really, they're hers to identify gender-wise. I also like writing them in swapped bodies. OH my do I like writing them touching themselves when they're really touching each other...writing with Exquisit has also made me think a little more carefully about my writing. My ideas often move so fast and I never have a beta, so it's good to have some serious editing for once:) I think my fav of my own writing was the one with the knife play. I don't know why, it just seemed to move Regina more quickly toward redeeming herself in my mind. I can't claim any uniqueness or inventiveness--it was just fun to find a way to propel them forward with really intense crazy daring sex.

Personally, I am fond of Love is for the Birds and Full Circle, although that one is in the works still cause life makes being inspired really difficult. Honestly, Love is for the Birds just made me chuckle so much whilst writing and it was definitely needed at that time. I sat at a table with a few beers and really got into Emma's character when she's dealing with understanding her feelings while out with MM, Ruby and Ashley. And writing the other ladies' reactions to her craziness was just great for me.
Full Circle is actually inspired by an episode of Grey's Anatomy which ripped my heart out because we are all seeing the change in the relationship between Regina and Emma and I just wanted to really have something monumentally bad happen that didn't necessarily have to do with being Regina's fault. I want to show off Emma's heroic side, but also force them into a situation where that care for each other has to be acknowledged. That's what is going to happen. I have a few more parts already finished, but I'm trying to get the whole thing done before posting them up.

This is a tricky question, since most of my fic is like a pear. I hate it while I'm writing it (because it's hard) and then I post and there's that glimmering moment of 'oh, someone likes it! It was worth it!' (much like the approx 5 seconds a pear is actually ripe/edible for) and then I find a little point to pick at, and suddenly think the whole thing is terrible again. It's... a process.
That said (!) I do have some that I still quite like.
Keep That Breathless Charm - aka Father of the Bride II - maybe I've been too busy this month to go back and get mad about it? - I liked playing around with structure and POVs external to Swan Queen themselves.
(Sympathy is) More Than Just a Way of Leaving - this is my second or third fic for this fandom and I think it kind of holds up? I don't know, but I did enjoy getting into the spiteful part of Regina and having her lash out at Emma a lot.
And Halfway Through the Wood, mostly because it took for ages to get it to 'click' and then forever to actually write. I think I'm pretty proud of it?
On the smutty side of things it's probably Waiting for Someone to Set The Scene, Like Chewing on Pearls and Where the Flashing Swords Gleam.
I don't think I'd be entirely ashamed of people reading any of those, anyway.

For me, Black Lace- will always be among my favorite of my Swan Queen stories. Mainly because it's the first multi-chapter I actually managed to get finished, and it was just incredibly fun to write. I love mixing humor with sexiness, and that story gave me a chance to do it with each and every chapter. And, of course, I'm adoring writing Pointed- ( www.fanfiction.net/s/8462841/1/Pointed) at the moment. I adore writing AUs in general, and vampire stories have always intrigued me. I'm loving the world I've created for that story and all its complexities. And I love that even though I know what ultimately happens, little things keep occurring to me mid-chapter and I get to go "ooh, let's throw that in here, too!" It's wonderful. Made a Fortune, and Counted It- is a rough one to write, which is why it gets updated much less infrequently than "Pointed." It's largely a cathartic piece, dealing with a lot of my own issues wrapped up in it, so writing it is a very emotional thing for me. But I love it, and love writing it. Of my one-shots, my favorite has to be Through Heaven's Eyes.- It just wouldn't leave me alone until it got out, and even though it's hard to quantify in terms of 'is it sex or masturbation?' I just love the idea of the Evil Queen finding a way to seek love through her future self... I may revisit that one with a second chapter, in time. *Mod Note: Proboards doesn't allow links to adult content.

I would love to enter the writers contest but there's just no way I'll be able to finish my story without the weekend (totally crazy Thanksgiving where I didn't have time for anything at all). So I guess my holiday fluff will have to wait (500 words so far too).
