What I thought was cute is she was kind of half asking me if they'd hugged, her tone rising when she said it and I laughed and said "well you'd know" - cos lord only knows how many eps ahead she was at that point and I am thinking, hell maybe they did? How can she not be sure? Lol. Wouldn't that stick out in your brain? The EQ hugging the saviour? It was very funny the way she just laughed at herself for not knowing and how she clearly thought hugging was sq significant. Heh! Considering that both Renée and Lucy forgot that Xena kissed Gab in the episode where Gab marries Perdicus, nothing that actors forget will surprise me anymore.

Well...I think it depends how fast they learn that Emma and a passing parade of non-sizzle unlikeable suitors will soon turn into a laughing stock. I've seen it happen before -Xena (they learned), Rizzles - um, still doing it the hard way and not learning...dare I mention SVU?
ie. do the show runners have enough humility to accept that some of this is out of their hands and they should just go with what works as opposed to imposing their vision formed before the first episode was even shot. You have to go with the alchemy. Would be ironic if a show about a magical land derails because the show runners don't trust in the magic of their own show.
That said, commercial interests do get a big say and the unwritten rule is 'gay don't pay'.

Never bet on humility in Hollywood.

That's more credit than I'm giving them at this point. I was pleasantly surprised by last season, but I was a little nervous about what the return of magic would mean for the show -- it takes a delicate touch to incorporate magic in a way that works for adult viewers who are trying to take the show seriously. When we got to Hook's "Oh, I have this one magical bracelet that will allow one of you to penetrate the beanstalk's special protective spells" I was like, 'oh, FML.' I suspect that they had a really good premise for a show, and figured they'd just make the rest up as they went along once it got off the ground ETA: I think I'm drifting off topic here, so I'll start a new thread about my season 2 qualms in the general forum!

Yep probably nailed that in one.

No, I think they think they have a vision.
Before leaping down a hat, I would have liked to have seen more of the characters in SB and how they deal with their new reality. I really really want to see Regina on Archie's couch. No, not that sort of couch - his shrink's couch. I think they've missed a whole stage in the transition process. And this aspect is deadly interesting, which is why season 1 was so interesting and made the show a hit.
I don't give a sh*t about Hook - I just don't. He had quite a few *headpalm* lines - the one you mentioned made my brain seize. I would care if he was being played and written originally ie. NOT trying to hit on Emma in the obvious done-to-death pretty star must be hit on by every guy she meets plot. Aurora and Mulan - sure, but they're being wasted so far.

It can not be easy being bombarded by so many fan requests. Yes, you have to make your show, but that doesn't mean you can't give your fans what they want. For me it comes down to simple storytelling - if Emma was male, no one and I mean no one would debate whether the Evil Queen redeeming herself via her sworn enemy becoming her saviour, would make for classic storytelling. It would be interesting. Someone so dark embracing someone so pure. That would be the real test of her redemption, opening herself up to the light, symbolically represented by Emma, the white knight.

I also wonder if Lana watches the finished episodes. Because that might make a difference in why she doesn't see what is completely obvious to us--if she's doing multiple takes and doesn't know which ones make it to the episode.
For characters that don't "hug", they sure share a huge wardrobe.

I know for a fact that she said in some panel that she did. And for someone who just said that she doesn't follow actors, now I feel like I obviously secretly totally do lol! It was a cute bit, she said it was like a sunday night ritual I think

It was a cute bit, she said it was like a sunday night ritual I think I'm so glad you've kept up with the panels because I haven't been able to find them all. Anyhow, I'd been waiting for *months* for this interview, and I'm mostly satisfied with it. It's sad that the journalist has to be "one of us" before we finally get treated with some semblance of respect in the media. The US version of TV Guide referred to Swan Queen as fans who need to be "appeased" in some way and was so incredibly biased against us it wasn't funny.

I enjoyed reading the interview. Funny and interesting. What she said about Swan Queen didn't bother me, at all. I understand where she's coming from. I'm surprised no one's talked to JMo about Swan Queen yet. I'm pretty sure she's aware of SQ and its fandom, I'd just like to know what she thinks of it. Anyway, that was a really interesting interview.

I loved the interview. I'm ignoring drama queens in this fandom from now on. Her every answer was perfect (except for maybe her thoughts on the mine scene but then again who knows if she truly remembered that moment at all lol or she thought about some other moment). She's one great lady and this was definitely the best interview i have read so far. Scribes great job. The BOOBS comment had me laughing for 5 minutes, not to mention the last part of the interview. Hilarious.

Hilarious. I am almost positive she was remembering a different scene from the mine episode. Her comments wouldn't make sense otherwise. I'm not surprised that the BOOBS was intentional on the Evil Queen, although I wonder why the wardrobe department made that choice from a character standpoint. I mean, was it to entice the lesbian fanbase and draw our eyes to Regina or was there a deeper character based reason. I know I felt like the show was telling us Regina & Emma were going to be the lesbian characters because of their wardrobe choices from the very first episode.

I loved the interview. It really let Lana's personality come through. I thought the anecdotes were great insights, and the "response to Swan Queen" real and genuinely open, even as it acknowledged she has little power to do more than act what she is given to play, and Lana simply hasn't been given that to play yet, so she remains true to her character's arc.
