I've been super busy lately so maybe I'm out of the loop, but what interview/article confirmed he was coming back?

In the promo rumple asks someone (presumably Emma) to go find bae. So if Neal is bae, makes sense they'd have the actor back.

My head canon is that if its true, for some reason or another, he won't be able to enter sb. So rumple, if he truly wants his son, will have to cross the border and give up being the dark one. This whole season has really been about reuniting parents and child, and the sacrifices necessary to do that....

Also, if she goes to find him, Emma is gonna want to take Henry with her which equals SQ drama....unless regina goes too, which would mean the great mills-swan family road trip of 2013!

Robert Carlyle hinted at the town barrier spell being more complex than what we have already witnessed so I think that TPTB will make Bae/Neal's return more of an obstacle.

IMHO, I think it's two early to worry about Neal. He may have said he wanted another chance with Emma, but that was 11 years ago. He doesn't necessarily know about Henry and a lot can change in that time. Emma is a completely different person with intense regrets and feelings of betrayal towards Neal. Lets hope the writers do Emma justice and allow that relationship to be complicated. Instead of her forgiving him and being a instant happy family.

And Emma wears the necklace to remind her of Neal's betrayal, according to A&E in the Tallahassee podcast.

I hope someone writes that as a fic.....it would be hilarious and awesome. Confined to a car, they would drive each other nuts.

I do think that if that fight scene isn't a dream sequence, it's Emma telling Regina she's taking Henry to look for bae. Or a magic lesson (only because in a few of the pics, the blue fairy is there)

You guys are driving me crazy with all your ideas! AND I WANT FICS PLEASE. The roadtrip would be... perfection. And I think that Neal/Bae would be too obvious because that's the headcanon of 95% of the fandom. Buuuuuuut it's also the most plausible explanation...

Neal/bae falls into the Cora/QoH category for me....a big reveal that everyone figures out well in advance and is therefore not so much more than a confirmation. I'd be truly surprised if bae is someone else.

Yes, definitely this. I actually wrote on tumblr the other day about how un-surprised I was at the QoH "reveal" and how disappointed I was that they didn't have an alternative, surprising explanation, even though I realize that Cora = QoH was the one that made the most sense.

On the other hand, I'm sort of ambivalent about the whole Neal is Bae thing. We talk about it so much like it's already canon that I'm almost convinced it's true, and yet there's so much of that that doesn't add up for me.

That scene where August shows Neal something and he instantly believes in the curse story could be argued either way for me. You can look at it by saying that if he was so easily convinced, he MUST have known something about magic already, and perhaps the object that August showed him had something to do with Rumple. But at the same time, his reaction was too calm, IMO, for him to suddenly meet someone from a place he'd left forever as a child, and in such a traumatizing way too. If it were you, wouldn't you have way more questions about this guy, how he got here and etc if you WERE from FTL than not? I know I would.

Plus, I think it would be too much of a coincidence, even for this show, if Neal were Bae, and he accidentally met Emma in wherever that was that they met. Neal obviously didn't know anything about Emma being the savior. If there was any reason for anyone to want to get Emma to fall for Bae, the only person that I can think of that might be able to make that happen is August, and he clearly didn't want that.

I think from his behavior toward Henry, it's pretty clear that Rumple doesn't know he's his grandson (if that is actually true). So I think that if Rumple sends Emma to find Bae, and he turns out to be Neal, these writers better have some very convincind backstory on how that happened, because there's no way in hell I'd buy that it was just a coincidence that these two ex-FTL people met.

There are currently some rumors going around about a Hook/Belle pairing....this could be good for us.

Hook/Belle? That hook just has his...hook is all Rumple's ladies. They have the same taste it seems.
